Anyone doing any camping this summer>? I know I would like to camp out at Matagorda RV camp site or the free one right next to the jetty in the park area.
Allso when the corpus king fish torney starts in the first week of aug, I will be camping down there too. July and Aug looks to have calmer seas and winds, so they may be good camping times, it will just be HOT, but we wont be at the camp site in the mid afternoon when the sun is the most hot, we will be fishing at the rigs during that time... LOL
Let me know when you guys want to do some camping trips, where and when.... thanks.

Yes they have beach camping there. The RV park area is very nice to camp at too, they have clean showers and restrooms, electrical outlets.. etc.. right on the water too. Lake Travis is my home sailing water since it's just up the road, but I've been wanting to get back on Canyon Lake with the AI sometime.
I get out on the Aransas bay a few times a year, but haven't ventured offshore.
I'd like to get out on the Gulf this year and get some of those kings and lings. I hope my schedule can match up when one of you more experienced guys wants to bring a newb along.
Lately I've been inspired by reading about people kayaking or sailing small boats along the entire Texas coast. My schedule won't permit a straight-through journey, but I'm thinking seriously about doing a section every year. I'd start small, like Rockport/AP to Matagorda or Port Mansfield to Bird Island Basin. Sail a little, set up camp on a spoil island, fish a little, repeat for 2 to 4 days.

Me and Efren have been talking about doing something like that for two years now, and never got around to it... we where going to start at Freeport's ICW and travel down to Corpus while capming out on the way there... (making a video doc of it too) But if you guys want to make a route we could do post it up and lets see if we can make this into an event in the future.
