Took my TI out for the first time, with a friend, the air temp was cold; the water temp seems to be in the 70 deg mark or maybe in the 69 deg mark. We made it out to the 6 mile rig in Surfside, when we got there, a boat was all ready hooked up to it so we sailed to the 4.5 mile rig, the sailing was great, there was a 10 to 15 mph winds from the NE then shifted to the SE. trolling one 15 foot diver to the 6.5 mile rig with no hits, while trolling back from the 4.5 mile rig, I got one sold run trolling a gold rattle trap, but did not hook it.
IMO The pelagic will not be in until we get a constant water temp of at least 73 to 75 deg all the way to the 6 to 7 mile area; right now it’s just starting to stay around the 69 to 70 deg mark. But I think in May, it should be ready for king fish, cobia, Atlantic spade fish, tarpon, and the rest of the pelagic fish.
Got to test the new Ivory Dune TI, it did real well for being out 8 hours on the water, at the end of the day it only had 1 cup of water in the hull, and I think that was because I was opening the round hatch getting lures on the water. It was cold and I did not have waders on due to the air temp, but it was sure fun sailing about 14 miles total on SAT.
Building a roll bar like Bobby's for the back seat passenger so the sail line will be way above their head with trolling rod holders interchanging out with Scotty products.
There were reports of SMACS in the channel by other boaters, and I saw schools of big shad in the SS channel.

Thanks for posting this good report Daniel. Yea, it looks like it may be mid May before I get out offshore. Seems like the cold weather is sticking around a bit longer this year.

Good to hear the smacks are making their return.
I've also been watching the water temperatures. It's colder than last year by about 7 degrees due to all these later than normal cold fronts that keep coming through and last about 3 days and nights.
