Weather forecasts are fine, but when I go yak fishing, either bay or off the beach, the wind is my main concern. I like to know beforehand, since it's a long drive for me to the coast, how fast the wind speed is and from what direction. When I go to Surfside, I like to use this weather station at Freeport which updates the wind speed and direction in the link below. It updates every 8 seconds and this isn't a typo. In "seconds". www.wunderground.com/swf/Rapid_Fire.swf?units=english&station=KTXFREEP8This way if the forecasted wind speed is 10-15 mph out of the south and I check the link before I go and see it's already averaging between 17-22 mph and from the southwest at 3am, I stay home because during the daytime, the wind speed usually kicks up higher and wind from the southwest really muddies the water.
